Society of Manufacturing Engineers RAPID Conference and Exposition Contemporary Art Gallery call for entries

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) seeks presentation abstracts for the Contemporary Art Gallery at the RAPID Conference and Exposition, which will be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from June 10 through 13, 2013. The Gallery “…will recognize artists who use additive manufacturing, 3D printing or 3D imaging technologies to create works of art.”

Artists who have existing works that were created using additive technologies can submit a photo image of their art. Artists also have the option of submitting new designs in JPG file format for review and consideration to be printed.

Royal Botania, a Belgian outdoor furniture manufacturer, is accepting entries from designers in New York City and the tri-state area (Connecticut, New Jersey, New York) for its D-Lux chair design challenge. 2012 Color In Design Awards call for entries

HOW and Print magazines, in conjunction with Pantone, have announce the 2012 Color In Design Awards. Any printed graphic design work, website or other interactive communication published or appearing between November 1, 2010 and November 1, 2011 is eligible for these awards. Janet Turner Print Museum call for entries

The Janet Turner Print Museum at California State University, Chico seeks works from unique and innovative printmaking artists. Submitted works can include combinations of media that may encompass 2D, 3D, time-based work, installations, and other new technologies.

The competition is open to all ten-year postgraduate art majors (BA, BFA, MA, MFA) who can submit work created in the past two years. Entries must have a postmark no later than September 23, 2011. Entry forms and more information are available here.

NSF, Science Visualization Challenge Call for Entries

The National Science Foundation (NSF) and the journal Science announced the call for entries for the Visualization Challenge, recognizing innovative work in visual communication.

NSF and Science will appoint judges to select winners in each of five categories: Photography, Illustrations, Informational Posters and Graphics, Interactive Games and Videos. Winning entries will be will be displayed on the NSF website, and published in Science and Science Online.
